Wednesday

I was reading another home schooling mom's blog... and she mentioned something about schools are places with strangers that we send our kids to 35 hours a week.... and that we don't know what they learn, and not just academically. I feel the same way... when F was in school and I would hear about something bad that happened in another school, be it pedophiles, bullying or shootings... I'd always pray that my child was safe. Now that I am home schooling I know what my child is learning/ not learning and I know he is safe. I'm not sure what I will do about J in the coming fall.. maybe I will enroll her in something or maybe not. I like having the power to make those decisions for us. I know that my children don't have to be in a 'school' to learn. F did a reading comprehension story yesterday and got all of the questions at the end of it right. I was so proud of him, we also did a few hours of searching and learning on the comp. about volcanoes. We had to match a volcano to the state it is located in, and then we printed out some of the facts on specific ones that he liked. I like teaching him new things about stuff he's interested in. J has been playing a lot of her Care Bears V-smile game and learning her shapes and her letters, A is getting into it too.
Today he's not feeling so good so we are taking it easy, then later we will be going to the library for Rif. Until then though I am cleaning :)
