We did the laundry and went to the farmer's market in our neighborhood this morning. While at the market I asked F some math questions... if 1 lb of peaches are $1.79 how much is 2 lbs? Things like that... we do this every time we go there, I still can't get over how easy it is to incorporate some home schooling into every day activities...he likes doing it that way because he sees the point of learning the math that way... he needs to know how to add and multiply so he can do things in the real world by himself...I didn't say it, he did. :)
On the way home I asked him to spell a few words...and he is working really hard on his spelling so I wasn't expecting him to say he said... I asked him how to spell the word Box, B-O-X..no surprise there, then I said boxes... B-O-X-E-S.. which I figured he'd know as well but then he said "oh I knew it was ES at the end because I heard the ES sound, not just S"
We have been working so hard at having him really listen to the way words sound so he can spell them correctly. I was so happy that he is finally getting it I kissed him...which made him blush lol such a boy....
Then I thought about how happy it makes me when he finally 'gets' something and seeing his eyes light up is so worth the effort of teaching him the same thing over and over again for the 50Th time :)
Now to help J learn to read...
