I love to read blogs :) I only read home schooling blogs at this time and am fascinated by how others live their lives. I am reminded all the time how fortunate we are to be home schooling, we are really living our life on our terms and no one else's. We come and go as we please to museums, zoos, parks, etc... my kids get to do their own thing daily, be it drawing endlessly (J) mapping the capitals of the various countries in the world (F) or making a zoo with stuffed animals and playing house with dollies (A). We read whatever books we find interesting, count steps, dance to all types of music, talk about everything under the sun, laugh, watch movies, educational shows, cartoons, look up interesting animals, the moon, Thomas Edison's birth place, the Spanish American war etc etc online.....
My favorite day had to be so far in January of this year, I believe it was a Tuesday and it was 72 degrees outside, most kids were in school, we were at the Prospect Park zoo just enjoying the beautiful day God gave us, we had the zoo all to ourselves, there were literally 6 people there. It was so wonderful with the sun shining and the kids just enjoying the wildlife, the sea lion show, and the freedom that we decided what to do with our day. I sat at the picnic tables and thanked God and just marveled at how much I love home schooling and would not give it up for the world. Sure we have our struggles with it and our bad days but all in all the rewards of having my kids with me every single day and seeing their growing and learning first hand outweighs any bad day. F still talks about that day and how he realized that almost all the school aged kids were in school and how unfortunate for them, they had to sit in a classroom while we were outside on that beautiful day learning about all sorts of interesting things.....
We are blessed.....
