We had a very good start to the home schooling year...
the kids all got up at different times, had breakfast and then settled around the kitchen table for our first morning of home schooling.
A did a few pages in her K workbook, on matching and shapes, J did some adding and then wrote some of her own addition problems in her notebook with fruits that she colored :). She is starting to get the whole concept of adding and taking away, we apply it to the real world now and then so she sees the value of knowing math.
F did some place values online. Got bored (too easy) even though it was 4Th grade math... then did some 6 digit addition and subtraction in his notebook. Went over some other mathematical concepts form the 5Th grade version, which he deiced he would rather do than the 4Th grade...
Then did a reading comprehension work page, some vocabulary words and such... then he took a break and drew flags of the world... he drew Honduras, and some others. He used various mathematical helpers to make sure the flags wee spaced exactly the way they are supposed to be, stars and other shapes exactly where they should be on the flags.
I read some books to A and J and then they all took a break and played on line some and then watched some Scooby Doo cartoons, then drew a whole bunch of pictures while I made 2 different home made soups for lunch. :) We all love soup...
Now F and his father are on the roof of our building fixing a leak together. Something that has changed in F is that he loves to be with his father now more than he did a year ago even. I noticed that he is more comfortable being himself and just seems so much happier than he used to be. He still gets stressed out at times trying to understand some concepts but he has so much more confidence in himself. I know that being in school was not good for him and the type of person he is, I am just glad that he is now the way I always thought my little boy should be. he is so funny and adorable and helpful and just such a great kid. I am so glad that he is here with us every day :).
Here is to a another good year of home schooling my 3 babies... yes I know they are growing up.. a mom can reminisce... lol
