This film fascinates me.. I have not seen it in its entirety but plan on it...
Basically a family of 3 (husband, wife and 2 yo dd) go 1 year without having any impact on the environment, that means, no electricity at all ie:no refridgerator, no shopping bags, no buying anything, only local food, vegetarian diet, no cabs, no trains, no laundromats etc.. anything that has any negative impact on the environment was cut out for an entire year. To some this is not that hard, but they live in NYC. Yet they found a way to survive and remain an intact, happy family. :)
The link above is to a list of things that they were successfully able to keep out of the landfills for 1 year.
We as a family of five already do some of the things they gave up for a year, no meat of any kind has been consumed by us in almost 2 years (and even then it was only me eating 1 steak a year). Me and the kids walk when doing most errands, we eat out (pizza only) an average of 5 times a year.. but there is so much more we can do.
I am looking forward to watching this film.
