Our trip to DC

At the end of June we accompanied DH to DC for his business trip. While he was at his day long meeting, me and the kids went to the National Zoo. This was our first trip there, we had so much fun! we saw so many animals, the kids loved the sprinklers they have positioned through out the zoo so people can cool off, it gets hot in DC! It was pretty warm, in the mid 80's so the water felt great! They have a big variety of animals, an aquarium, we even saw a komodo dragon. It is a big zoo and it took us about 4 hours to see everything, it was fun and educational, and free :).. Can't beat that!

We weren't planning on spending the night, but since it was a 5 1/2 hour ride (so much traffic) Dh's boss said he could expense a night and she booked a hotel for him!  I love her! It was a very nice hotel, I had a change of clothes for the girls, but not for the rest of us, so we bought some clothes and got the rest of our toiletries from the hotel :).  The next day we decided to drive into DC and see the white house and whatever else we could see. After a few wrong turns, our GPS isn't working very well, we actually found a free 3 hour parking on the street, and walked the 2 blocks to the white house. The kids were in awe, I really think I will try and arrange a tour the next time we go. They need at least 21 days notice and we have to submit some papers for approval. After that, we walked over to the Lincoln memorial. It was so much bigger than we thought! We also saw the Vietnam veteran's memorial, and a few other interesting sights. A nice 3 hours spent in the nation's capital...

On the way home we stopped at a rest stop in Delaware, just because we needed to set foot on the first state.
