Back to 'school' :)

The summer was spent with readings, some math and science, and lots of play dates with neighborhood kids and park days with the homeschool group. But now it's back to 'school' time.

We are getting in the swing of things, we started our homeschool last Thursday and have gotten some good momentum. A has improved on her reading ability :), but more importantly, she has decided she loves to read and wants to take a book with her whenever we go out!
Today was the official first day for the public school kids, so we decided to celebrate the lack of crowds and screaming, pushy children, by going to the Sony Wonder Technology Lab in the city. We met up with a few friends and had a really good time.. the kids got to try out a variety of things technology related. The favorite being virtual surgery and the HDTV station, where they got to be reporters and camera men and do a mock news story. The Lab is free of charge and abt. 45 min subway train ride away, not too bad. We went for lunch at Chop't afterwards and got some really great veggie sandwiches courtesy of DH (he work's for the company and is entitled to free food which he doesn't get so we used it).  On the train ride home F finished his book, A finished hers on the way there... :)

I am so looking forward to have a great year homeschooling a 6th grader, and 3rd and 1st graders. It should be a fun and interesting year. We have a few regular classes that we signed up for starting next week as well.  I wish there was more time in the week for us to fit all the classes, field trips and park days into...
