DH took F to the Intrepid museum in NYC for a father and son field trip. The saw so many interesting things, and had a great time. F got to experience the inside of a real submarine, the inside of a helicopter, various jets, and learn about he history connected to this place. They spent 3 hours inside and then went out for pizza. The admission is so expensive, but we have a membership to the NY Hall of Science so with the reciprocal admissions to various science centers around the country, they got in for free :). We are so getting our money's worth!
I took the girls to the Prospect park zoo for a girls day out as well. The baby baboons were on exhibit and the girls loved watching them play, run around, and chase each other, climb and just be babies :). They were so cute, we took our time, had a bagged lunch, and got to see things at our pace. The sea lion show was also interesting and the kids loved the tricks and learned a few things about them. Afterwards we walked over to the historic Lefferts house and experienced the way Brooklyn was during the late 1790's and 1800's. The girls had such fun trying to walk on stilts and making food in the fireplace kitchen.
The zoo and the house were all free as well, we have had a membership to the NYC zoo's for about 8 years now and we always get our money's worth by visiting as many of the zoos and the aquarium as many times during the year as we can.
