We went to the Brooklyn transit museum today with a few friends....all 3 kids had a friend to play with it was great. J played with her friend S, A played with J and S a little and F had his friend L there. We walked around by ourselves, no tour this time and it was so much fun with the kids, we got to sit on trains from the early 1900's to the 1970's, go through old style turn styles, look at pictures from when they were building the tunnels and underground train stations.... then the kids got to drive a transit bus and stimulate a clean fuel car among other things. Can't forget the train ride we took getting there..the girls hardly ride the train and they were very excited :).... it helped to have their father along...I do not take the train with 3 kids by myself...I'm just not there yet in the safety/comfort level.
We have been doing more reading daily, and F has been doing more multiplication in his work books as well as playing a lot of computer games this week.
It has been so warm this past week that on Tuesday when it was 65 outside we decided to go to the prospect park zoo and just spend a few hours looking around. J was soo happy, she loves the zoo. We took a 30 minute bus ride and walked 2 block to the zoo, we saw so many things and had lunch outside leisurely....it was so perfect. J is so into learning about animals and she has no plm talking to the people who work with them so she asked and answered a lot of questions, we saw the cow who pooped while we were watching it eat hay.... (fun!) monkeys eat veggies, feed the ducks, a kangaroo who was carrying a Joey (a baby Kangaroo) which we did not see come out...which disappointed J but it didn't stop her from coming home and telling her father all about it.
She drew pictures of the cow eating hay and doing it's business.... she tends to draw what she sees with great accuracy, so we have a huge box filled with her realistic drawings.....
Home schooling gives us so much freedom to do what interest the kids and that way they learn more because they are active participants in their education.
