It snowed today! I went to a Dr. appt and when I got back my dh went outside to shovel while the kids played in the snow....A made a baby snow man, and F and J built a little fort.... they all came in afterwards to some nice hot chocolate :)
F did 2 pages in his math book and then some word plms on the Webkinz...then we declared the rest of the day a snow day and the kids played whatever they wanted.......
I read an article on homeschooling families in NYC in a magazine and felt a little excited because I know the groups they were referring to, as well as a feeling of satisfaction at knowing that we are indeed like them ( we know that we have it better :) ) our kids get up around 9 am....have a nice breakfast, get school work done, play, go to various classes/group things depending on the day, we get to choose our activities from day to day. We do not have to follow a school's schedule, a teacher's (administrator's) whims about what the kids should be learning, we get to do as we please and our kids still get a good education as well as learn to enjoy life, have fun.....
I remember one weekday in January when it was about 60 degrees outside we got up and decided to go to the zoo, we spent hours there just taking our time looking around, talking to some of the zoo keepers about the animals, eating a nice picnic lunch outside, just really enjoying the day..... it made me so grateful to be able to home school and have my kids with me every day.....
I am very blessed to have my family the way it is.
