I didn't know what to put for this posts title :)
I am so not in the mood to write this blog but I like to keep up with what we have been doing...
F has been doing his math daily, he is almost done with his Japan flag report...He has to find 10 facts about the flag and he did 9 already...with 2 weeks to spare... I am trying to teach him how to do research on a topic. We found some really cool online science and math games.. Who wants to win a million? is one of them and he has played it every day since.... yesterday we got to the $1,000,000 question and lost :(
It has science and math questions geared for all ages... some high school stuff that even I have no idea abt... we use the Internet to find the answers to the hard ones, shh I know it's cheating :) We read the answers, explanations together and he is learning smt.. the math seems to be geared towards 2 to 6Th grade and he has learned how to do a point on a graph....
We also sat and did a 2nd grade Science Jeopardy with F and J as well... she answered about 5 questions right.. which goes to show you that even when you don't think they are learning they are learning....
Still reading Moby Dick, and other books. J has been drawing up a storm again, writing her words, learning the sounds each letter makes. Fun stuff for her :)
Saturday was J's last dance class until the 3rd week in June, we sat in the class and saw all the little 4 yo ballerinas dance.. it was so cute... She just loves to dance and is pretty good at it so we signed up for another 3 mos...afterwards we went food shopping, it seems like we go food shopping 4 days a week...
On Sunday my uncle came from Nevada and spent the afternoon with us here... the kids loved him!! We haven't seen him in about 4 yrs so A has never met him but she took to him like a bee to a flower... she hugged him and played with him....
He bought some special markers for the girls and they had a blast drawing and changing the colors etc.... my mom came as well and hung out.
F is experimenting with colors, he is trying to figure out how to make gray :) for some reason there are no gray crayons in most crayon boxes... so we have about 5 boxes and 1 gray crayon..
Other than that the kids have just been playing with toys and building with the Lego's and blocks, making Disney land with pillows and toys and blankets...
The 'school' year is almost over.. I am a little apprehensive about J being in kindergarten, she has a love for learning all things, she likes to write and to read and she asks a thousand questions about everything but I am just worried about her not learning how to read... this is not based on any reality...
I know she will be fine, I just can't help thinking that F was in school for kindergarten and he learned to read then. Now she will be at home and it's my responsibility to teach her, I know that they will learn when they're ready and some kids are not reading until they are 6 yrs old or even older....
