We have a new President

Today is truly a historic day for us all, not just because we as a nation again proved that Democracy works by electing a new president but because we have elected the first African American president. I watched the inauguration today with J and F, A was off playing with dolls :). The kids were really interested and asked lots of questions about who was who on TV and just sat there and listened to the speeches and the songs being sung. The speech was really good and inspiring and full of hope.
SO now comes the hard part and to make things happen.
Me and F also looked up FDR and the New Deal, Obama's presidency is being linked to Roosevelt's presidency so I figured it'd be a good idea to look it up and teach F a little more about this great president. We will take much more time to study Franklin D. Roosevelt in the coming months.
We read about MLK jr yesterday and talked a little bit about the experiences of some ppl back during the '50s and 60's.

F also took a break from watching history being made and did some math.

Math is every day occurrence here now. :) Even while doing errands we cover math as well as some science, we took a walk around the neighborhood yesterday while the laundry was washing and had a great time throwing snow balls at each other. There really isn't a better sound than my kids laughing. :)

Once the laundry was done we walked home and decided to make a snowman right outside, A and J got right to work while me and F shoveled most of the snow from the front of the building. Now there is some nice exercise for u.. shoving snow :).

I have started an exercise regiment again, i usually stop and then start again, but this time I will keep at it, I do about 10 push up (what I can manage so far) and some sit ups, and then lift some weights (with my 10lb personal dumbbells).
I figure along with this and walking every where as I do now should help be get in a better shape. Not lose weight.. my 115 lbs is fine with me :), it'd be nice to have toned arms and have my 6 pack toned belly back again after 9 years....

J also does push ups and she can manage quite a few of them, which surprised me cuz she is so skinny but very energetic for a 5 yo. She likes to exercise and I encourage that for all the kids just as a way to be healthy. It is so important to be healthy and happy :).
