We had a great time in Lancaster PA this week... we left Wednesday morning and got there around 12 pm... after lunch at Panera, we did our usual shopping at Goodwill where we got some books and clothes, then of course Walmart... :) where things are soo much cheaper ...
I swam in the hotel pool, and hung around the room for a little, went to dinner and had an Ok night of sleep since A has a little cold...
Thursday we took a drive to downtown Historical Lancaster and went to the North museum of Natural History. It was a small but really fun place, there was a school group doing the tours of the exhibits so A and J stood with them for a few and learned some interesting things. The kids loved the dinosaurs bones exhibit the most, they saw a giant Megalomania shark complete with the teeth, a huge skull of a triceratops, and many other dinosaur bones, eggs, etc... they also saw the 1st bird which was a cross between a modern day bird and a small dinosaur. After about 3 hours we drove back to the hotel and had lunch. It was so relaxing, no stress, no computer.. we decided to go on an Amish buggy ride, we do this every time we got to PA, it is such a great experience to ride in a buggy thru the country side. After we arrived back to the mini farm the kids had a great time playing in the playground, my favorite had to be the baby goats and the baby chickens that we born not too long ago.
We had a great dinner at Red Lobster, love that all my kids eat fish :).
Me and the girls went into the pool for a little, but the water was too cold for an actual swim.
Friday after checking out we dove back to the historical district, where me, F and J went on a tour of 15Th president Buchanan's house. It was a very informative 1 hour tour of the actual house. We were taken around with a older lady tour guide dressed in the 1800's period costume. She told us that all of the furnishings were the actual pieces, and told us all about the life of the president while he lived there with his nephew and niece and servants. F and J asked some questions and really enjoyed looking around and imagining they were there in the 1840's. DH and A walked around the grounds which was full with trees and flowers and just beautiful. Buchanan bought 22 acres of property. A saw and learned about a lot of different trees and collected tree bark and leaves and had a 'tree class' with daddy :).
We were not happy to be coming home Friday... but home sweet home we came...
This week we go back to workbooks, art class, park days, dance class etc...
J is making books, writing stories, drawing, painting, using pastels and pen to draw more realistic things, the art class is helping her improve on her passion.
