We are having a really good week :)
Yesterday was national pancake day, so we got up and made pancakes. F likes to read the ingredients and how to make them so it's a good math lesson for him, not to mention he eats pancakes all day. Then we did our reading comprehension/math/social studies work sheets that corresponded with this day. Then we took a break and went to the library for RIF, and of course borrowed more books. because you can't just have 12 library books at home you need more every week..especially if they are about mummies and Egypt. The kids love the library....
F played his Spyro video game yesterday and I realized that it's actually not so bad because he has to read the captions to figure out what to do. He plays video games about once a week so I let him.
He has been interested in the moon and Mars lately so we have been doing more with that. I found a nice question and answer informative book on Mars on Enchanted learning so we have been using that and it's cool. We also have some activities in NYC coming up dealing with the moon.
My mom went to PR last week for a race and she bought back some presents for the kids including t-shirts, which F wore for 2 nights in a row. He took it off during the day and then put it back on to sleep :) I thought that was cute.
F also did a whole page in his Spanish notebook on Tuesday..he only really wanted to do Spanish that day so we pretty much just did that. He is learning it fast and with the correct pronunciation, we also reviewed all of the words he has learned so far. He never wanted to even attempt to learn Spanish before we started home schooling.
I was reading another mom's blog about what it's like to home school and I couldn't have said it better. It's brought us closer as a family and I really do believe that F is better off learning at home, things that are interesting to him and with all of the activities we do it is just so much better. He has his home school friends so he is being 'socialized' A lot of people have the wrong idea of what home schooling is like, and sometimes it gets frustrating talking to people about it. I laughed because the questions/ comments that she said people make are almost exactly the same ones I get.
But I have to remember that I do what's best for my children. We love to home school :)
