Well F went to Florida with my mom last night, so it's just us girls for the next few days. J and A wanted to paint their princess papers this morning so we took out the water colors and they painted away. I am going to enjoy my girls, we will play a lot and read books and practice our letters like we have been doing. J is getting better and better every day at recognizing her letters.
F and I did a lot of stuff yesterday, we read the book Pompeii, Buried alive a few days ago so we looked up Pompeii on line and we took a virtual tour of Pompeii, which is now an outdoor museum. He learned a lot about what it was like to live in the year 79 AD. Then we did roman numerals, and he got them pretty quickly. The web site had a roman numeral conversion system and he had a great time with that. He also learned more about the number system we use here. He borrowed a book on ancient Greece and we will be reading it when he comes home.
Then he was off to his favorite Volcano site, he loves to stimulate a volcanic eruption, he gets to pick the planet and the gravity force and some other calculations and then he watches how it erupts. He like to play the matching games as well where he has the name of the Volcano and has to match it with the state it's in. His and A's picture of a volcano are on the site as well as hundreds of other children's. I found a yahoo group all about math, and i got a few ideas about a math game involving dice, it's supposed to help the child learn place value better. F is pretty good at adding and subtracting using 'borrowing'. But I think it'll be fun for him to make it into a game. I love home schooling, I have gotten to know F so much better and he has learned to relax more, and be himself. He is so sweet and funny and he loves to be silly, and he is so smart.
