The Met

Me and F had a great time at the Met yesterday ( The Metropolitan Museum of Art.) We saw the Egyptian exhibit which was so different and much more interesting than when I last went there( abt. 7 years ago). I know.....
We got to see a lot of coffins (I think with mummies inside) or at least that's what F thinks :) as well as walk inside a replica of a tomb, and an actual temple which was brought over from Egypt years ago. I tok notes and pictures..We also visited the Arms and Armory exhibit which we both really liked, then walked upstairs to the 19Th century paintings to see Van Gogh and other famous artists from that time period. Me and F studied Van Gogh a little while ago so we wanted to see some of his many paintings in real life. It was really nice and we are definitely going back for another visit. F also got to see some Greek statues of nude men(which he kept saying ewww to) as I tried to explain that it's natural....he's still only 7...
After wards we went to Subway for turkey and cheese sandwiches. On the 1 hour train ride home we discussed how to get from one place to another using the train(eg; what train stop is our stop...)I feel it's important for him to know how to use public transportation as well as know about his neighborhood.

When we got home I cooked dinner, relaxed for about 1 hour then went back to the City to meet my mom, we saw a play at the New York Deaf Theatre on 28Th str. It was really good, I am glad we went. it was 2 hours long with deaf actors with very good interpreters. They were hilarious... it was nice to spend some adult time with my mom, I didn't get home until 11:30 pm...

Today we stayed home and cleaned a little while F played games on the computer, with his sisters and read Ellis Island. The Ellis island web site has some great teaching info abt. the Island, as well as pictures. We will be taking a trip there in the next few months.
Me and J just finished learning about her numbers (she is learning to count until 34) as well as some more letters. She is learning more and more letters every day. She is trying to spell her name in order. She's getting better and better.... she's also very interested in Spanish so we went over her colors tonight.

My mom's b day is tommorow so she will be coming here for cake and singing and clapping (from J who loves b days).
