Boats

The kids decided to make boats today. F made one out of foil, a paper towel tube, glue and for a flag he glued a piece of paper onto the tube. He colored the flag with the colors of Armenia, then looked up the country in his Almanac as well as on line. The girls made one as well, J drew pirates on her paper which she used instead of foil. I love her drawings, she is very creative and cute when she draws. She glued her tube to the paper and made her own colorful flag...she has to be like F. I like days like today when they get ideas out of the blue and sit down to make something.
F's boat floated for a little while in the bath tub but then it got a little water and drowned :( now we have ideas on how to make it better and will try again tomorrow....
We went to the library yesterday after J's Dr. appt for her immunizations, we ended up borrowing about 12 books.... it's a start for the year....I borrowed one book on Puerto Rican stories and we will definitely study the kids' Puerto Rican heritage much more in depth this coming 'school' year.
We got a picture book about snails, and so far our snail is alive and well...we are all taking care of it, getting it rocks for calcium and fresh leaves every few days....I am waiting to see how it will fare once winter comes...

I signed F up for a song writing class that's given by a singer, songwriter lady who has been doing her band/singing for abt. 8 years now. I checked her web site out and it looks really good, F will learn how to write his own songs, be creative, have fun, interact with kids his own age and hopefully get better at his writing skills.
The class starts in September and goes until the end of November, and is held at one of the HS mom's office which is about 15 min bus ride from our apt... so cool.
Now I need to find a dance school for J, the one that she was attending is too expensive for the coming season... so now I ma trying to contact all of the ones that I found in Bklyn, but no luck so far..they all seem to be closed until September 1st.
I'll find something hopefully close to home...my J will be dancing :)
