Dance!

We finally signed J up for a dance school, it is close to our home..walking distance and not very expensive. She will be learning ballet and tap, and I can use the same clothes that I bought for the previous class/school. I just need to buy her ballet and tap shoes. It starts in about 2 week. I hope she likes it as much as she did the first school, which is way too expensive for us to keep her enrolled.
The days she is enrolled for fits well into our schedule, especially since one Saturday every month we have the class at Home depot that F and his father take. I can take the girls for the dance class (walking.. great for the environment) and he can drive F to Home depot...works well.

The group in Bklyn seems to be taking off as well, Chinese classes are popping up, plans for a Spanish class is in the works, there is the Around the world club going (studying various aspects of countries), as well as a Science club forming etc.... it's so great that we can get together and do this for our children.
Chess is also staring up again at the library which F is very excited about...he borrowed a book from the library so he can learn a few more moves before class starts.

I feel so much more confident in home schooling the kids this year than I did last year. It is so much better, it gives us so much more freedom to plan our days the way we want to. The kids saw my brother today and had a great time playing with him at my mother's house. He came down from Florida for a few days, the kids love him and we made plans for a week long vacation in March or April, I can plan this without worrying what my kids will miss in school we can do what is important to us and still give our kids a good education...We can 'School' when we want to, have get togethers when we want to (socialization), F is able to be involved in things that he is truly interested in, learn more about things that he really wants to learn more about such as all the countries in the world and specific fast about each of them. He can spend hours on the computer with his almanac looking up countries and facts/things about each one. I like that my kids will have the chance to truly be a part of their learning process and be able to direct their learning instead of someone telling them what to do all the time and being stifled in a class room. In my son's old school they do not even have any recess time... they do spend some time after lunch in the auditorium watching movies?! I always thought huh? We can do that here?! I do not send my child to school so he can watch t.v.!

I honestly do not think that I will be sending my children back to school before high school.....which seems to be fine with them for now......
