end of summer

Well we have about 1 week left until the official start of 2ND grade for F. I am having him finish some 1st grade stuff in his work books.
We are having a busy end of the week.....
my DH scraped and painted the ceiling in the bdrm today while me and the girls went to the library for the end of summer reading party. F stayed home and helped a great deal I am told :) he loved it, he got to paint and help his father with the furniture etc...
We had a decent time at the library, the singer was great, J enjoyed herself dancing and clapping, but she is a little sick so she had a little episode at the end. A fell asleep and complained that it was too loud :). J was disappointed that she couldn't play on the computer there because they turned them off for the party. I read a few books to them and then we left.

We also rearranged the bdrm and it looks better, I organized a little and threw away some papers and books so we have more room.

J has been playing with her V-smile games and getting better at her letters and what some of them stand for...A for apple.... which surprised me a little because I didn't know she knew some of them....:)

Tonight we started learning about the Civil War, F watched a DVD from Netflix about the famous battles of the war. It was pretty interesting, he has a book about the war...one if the 'what if you were there series'.... that he looked at along side the DVD, which helped him understand it better.

We had plans to go to the Civil War museum in PA but we did not have the finances or the time to do the trip. Hopefully we will do it this year...

This week coming we have plans to go to the library and check out the chess program again as well as some books on Peru so F can start his presentation report for the Around the World club we will go to in Sept.

I can't wait for the upcoming year, I think it'll be better than the first year...:)
