Tuesday

Last Friday me and F went to the city with another hs mom and her son W. We went to the Sony Wonder technological lab in midtown..we have never been there and I am glad that we got to go before they started renovating the place....the boys got to see how computer, the t.v., all things technological work from the inside. F got to use a computer to 'prepare' for a hurricane, and a oil spill by using weather forecasts and nautical reports to predict where a hurricane would make land and how severely, this was great because he loves to read, watch and study hurricanes, he also got to make a movie, and design a video game...he actually said he would like to be video game designer. Before we went inside we went to the big toy store Fao Swartzh where they got to play with some interesting toys. After the Sony lab we took the train back home and F fell asleep in the train...he was tired.... as soon as we got home it was time to go to J's dance class, and then we did some shopping at Fairway. I bought some fresh Canadian salmon that I cooked the following night, all the kids loved it and we had left overs for another meal for all of us again, not bad for $20.
F has been doing a lot of things with geography on maps.com, quizzes on various subjects through other web sites. He is getting so good at identifying the countries of the world by their shapes and locations. He loves to do all sorts of different things with world geography, he found a site today that has a cross word puzzle on various countries and capitals and other interesting facts.
We also read a story on Hanukkah and Christmas in Australia, which is the country we are doing at the next geography club.
I had an idea on teaching F some more about money, we do the work pages and talk about how much things cost and I ask him questions every time we go shopping, but I want to take it to another level with him. I will give him $10 and let him make his won shopping list of things that he'd like to buy and when we go to the store he can see if he has enough money to buy the things with his $. This will teach him to budget money and understand more about the cost of things. He loves this idea.

J is writing up a storm (as much as a 4 yo can write) and she wants to know how words are spelled, what they start with...I love this interest....
A has had an interest too in learning to write the first letters of her name, we made x mas cards today, she wrote her middle name with my help :) G....

I have some new plans for us for home schooling 3 kids starting the new year....
