reading

F has been reading non stop lately :) he is done with the 'wimpy kid' book I bought last week...it took him 4 days to finish it...abt 200 pages....I was very impressed.....
We are almost done with the 'Journey to center of earth' one he read ahead about 4 pages tonight, which means I have to catch up so I know what's going on as well :)
I like the book too. I printed out some book report formats and he will do a book report once he is done reading it. I love edhelper.com it has so much info for all grades. It is so worth the $36 for 2 yrs. He also spent a few hours reading his Time for kid's Almanac and going over various country facts for me, literacy and life expectancy rates are his favorite.....

I bought a book on the human body with detailed pictures of the entire body, nerves, bones etc.... yesterday we read the part on the bones and what is inside of them, then we cut open a chicken leg bone and compared what they looked like. The kids loved that. It was a nice discussion on what we need for healthy bones and why it is important to get the calcium we need. J was really into it and wanted to know every animal that gives milk. Then F was explaining to his sisters what other foods we get from milk....he has been doing that a lot lately, teaching his sisters things.
A has been playing a lot on her V smile game and is learning her letters and shapes, J is playing into her Reader Rabbit software for kindergarten and is doing pretty well on it..she also likes to play F's old 1st grade one and with help she is getting it. We are also reading a lot and playing a lot. We got a bunk bed last week and got rid of the girl's toddler beds :( but out went a few more toys and some other things which made their room more crowded. Now they have a much bigger space to play, do puzzles, build a zoo (J loves that) etc..... A is sleeping in F's old twin size bed and she is doing pretty well at staying in it at night. The room looks really nice.

F will be starting graphs and more word problems for his math section of our week. Today he did some 3 digit addition and subtraction, double digit multiplication (24*2) and some basic division.
