The kids and I went to Prospect park yesterday to meet the home school group for a fishing activity. There were 4 park rangers there to teach them about fish and itchiology (the study of fish). Afterwards they all got their own fishing rods and went fishing in the pond. There were some police trainees who were doing a scuba diving activity near by so I think they scared the fish away for the most part, only 1 girl caught a little fish which was shown to all and then thrown back. The kids had a great time though. I took pics and the girls were soo cute with their fishing rods that were 4 times their size :)
Once the activity was over they all got Nature detective badges and we stayed to play... we settled on some grass, one mom remembered (out of 15) to bring blankets...good thing she had about 5 of them :) and we sat and ate a nice lunch and the kids ran around. Some of the moms decided to try the paddle boats the park has for rent and they took F with them while me and the girls and 1 mom and her son stayed behind. We had such a nice time talking and playing... I got a little sun burned which usually happens to me at the beginning of summer and then I learn my lesson and put on sunscreen.. I know soo bad......
Took the bus home and make a quick dinner and relaxed.... bring on the SUMMER!!
Today F and his father went on some car errands and a hair cut while me and the girls did the food shopping... once they got home F did some math work pages. F paid for his own hair cut... his decision since he doesn't want us to cut his hair at home anymore...
This also teaches him to budget his money now for his own needs as well as for the fun stuff...
