HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

TO ALL THE MOTHERS OUT THERE...HAVE A HAPPY AND BLISSFUL DAY :)

I love mother's day... being a mom is the best thing in the world..... being a home schooling mom is even better, at least for me. :)

We have had a pretty good week..... Monday we went to the post office and mailed my step daughter's b day presents, (wow she's 20 on Fri.) donated some food for the City Harvest food pantry ( J wanted to know why we were donating food so we had a short conversation about why it is important to help people that might not have as much as we do) did some math, F started his book report on the Earthquake in the morning book we finished.
Wednesday we took the train to the Brooklyn aquarium, met 2 other hs'ing moms there and had a really nice time. The kids loved seeing the sharks and the walruses, the mommy walrus gave birth last summer and we got to see the baby walrus. She was in the same water enclosure as her mother because the babies suckle until about 2 yrs of age, it was such a sight....sooo cute..... she swam in the water and then when we came around again to see them they were both sunning themselves on a big rock.....
J had her friend F there and they ran around holding each other's hands and talking as only little girls can. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours ate lunch and took the train home.
The rest of the week we did some work in the works books, J practiced writing her alphabet a lot in her Leap pad book, we read stories and F finished his book report. I changed the report from 4 pages to 2 pages and he is more into writing it, his spelling is improving slowly...he is having a hard time with it but we keep at it while he is writing his reports, drawing his cartoon books where the people talk into the bubbles coming out of their mouth.
He is doing so well in all other areas of his studies so I am not stressing so much over the spelling issue.
We started reading Treasure island yesterday and he is learning a lot of new vocabulary words, and now he is into Indiana Jones, we went to Toysr'us on Thursday and he bought a Lego set of Indiana Jones and finished building it the same night. We also bought the girls some Lego sets as well and they have been busy creating new things, J made a bird, a tree and little people, ice cream and the list goes on... she is very good at making things it seems with the Lego's. A loves it as well and is building chairs and tables which seem to be her thing for now :)

Friday we were supposed to go to the park for a friend's b day 'party' but it was so bad out with the rain and wind we decided to just stay home and clean, OK I cleaned, the kids played with Lego's and dolls and each other.
Today we went for J's dance class and then food shopping. After some lunch F and his father went outside so he could ride his bike. He was excited and they stayed out for an hour. He really doesn't get to ride his bike as much as he'd like to but this year we will make more of an effort to drag it down stairs and actually ride it to the park. :)
