Sunday

I took the kids for their first tennis lesson on Wed. and they both loved it. There were a lot of kids there and me and A sat on the grass and watched them. It was nice to see them enjoying themselves. Thursday my brother came from Florida and took us to the city for some shopping and some dinner in midtown. They all got to pick a toy from the Disney store :) of course F and J got a new webkinz toy and A picked a Heffalump. :) W had a really nice time. We got home around 6 pm and crashed lol, Friday on July 4Th we discussed the meaning of the holiday, did errands and laundry then watched the fireworks on TV. Saturday we went to my mother's house in SI and hung out there, I got a hair cut so now my hair has a style :) went shopping for some new clothes for me and new sneakers for J because she outgrew hers and needs them for tennis.... then my bother came over again and we went to the beach for a few minutes, the kids got to play in the sand for about 15 minutes and then it started to pour... the weather has been weird for a few weeks now with rain almost every day at some point in the day.... J was so disappointed... but they still had a nice day with their uncle....

As far as home schooling goes.. I sent in my LOI for the upcoming year for F and already started my IHIP, I also sat down with him and we picked out 5 chapter books that he'd like to finish reading by the end of his 3rd grade year. I also wrote a lesson plan for science and picked some of the books we will be using for it. I printed out a few dozen math work pages from Edhelper.com and will be using only 1 workbook this year and one math book. The Singapore math workbook for grade 3 with some pages from the 5Th grade workbook I got form another HS mom and Ray's mathematics that has only word problems which will be my main focus for the first few months of the school year. Hopefully this will simplify our learning process and make it easier for us. I am going to be working on this for the next few weeks and will start our year in August with more structured lessons. Along with filed trips and museums this should be a fun year.
For J the goal is to help her learn how to read and to focus on her many other interests, dancing, animals and the world in general :) she likes to know about everything and has a million questions....

A will be taught the same things along with J as she is ready to learn them.
