Friday I took the girls to the Brooklyn Children's museum for a play date with their friends. F was still not feeling that well so he stayed home with his dad and played board games and watched some educational shows. The museum was under renovation for almost 11 months and finally opened last weekend. It is now twice the size it used to be with more areas of play for the kids. J and A loves the pretend store with all the pretend food that looked exactly like real food, there was chicken, fruits and veggies, milk, o.j. etc for them to buy, they had shopping carts, 2 cash registers. They also had sections dedicated to various cultures, a Chinese store where you could learn to write in Chinese, a Panaderia, a African themed store etc....
All the kids, my 2, F and S got to watch the 18 ft long Burmese Python snake being fed a few giant rats, then play in the pretend aquarium, J also got to hold some sea creatures, our favorite was the sea cucumber that was so cute and squishy :). A just looked, she doesn't like to touch anything that is squishy, wet or can move, lol. Then we all went upstairs ti the space exhibit, where J and F had fun looking at how the astronauts in the International Space station live while they are up in space, how they eat, go potty, and sleep. J got to try out the giant sleeping bag and pretend she was sleeping in space. It was a nice day and I was glad that she could spend some time with her friends.
Afterwards we went to the library for the RIF program and J and F got their free books, bought pizza and came home and crashed :).
Yesterday was dance class, and food shopping afterwards. My DH and the kids also cleaned out the snail tank and refreshed the soil and found all 7 of our snails that are still alive. They have lots of food so they can store energy, lots of leaves and sticks for them to climb. Now they seem happier and are climbing around more. I also laid down with all 3 kids and read a chapter for the Well Trained mind history book, we read about how the first nomads became farmers in Egypt. I have been reading them a book or two every day and J and A sat on the kitchen floor and drew about 20 pictures each, of food, themselves, animals, grandma..... A is really getting better at her drawing skills.
