It is Autumn... my son is sick with a cold so we missed the geography club we were going to on Wednesday and ended up doing laundry instead. J was so disappointed, she had her report on the Hawaiian goose all prepared, she really wanted to read it to the 'class'. This whole week we have had some plans that needed to be cancelled because of coughing, and sneezing.... :( The kids played a lot, watched some shows, The history of Halloween, How we built NYC, being a few of them, and did some errands with me.
F has been doing math work pages every day as well as reading some. We started The Swiss Family Robinson book last night.
J and A have been doing their own thing as well, drawing, writing their ABC's, J did a math page that I printed out from one of the web sites we subscribe to. Building with the Lincoln logs, Lego's, and blocks.
I was reading about a 5 yo boy who was dropped off at the wrong bus stop by the school bus driver, and had to ask a stranger for help. he was miles from his house, was never supposed to be on a bus (he lives across the street from the school) and was supposed to go to an after school program 1 block away.... the bus driver told him to get off because it was the last stop and left him there.
All I could think about was my J who is the same age. If that were to happen to my child I honestly don't know what I would do, I know that I wouldn't be as calm as the mother was on the news.... I am sure she was beyond livid at what happened and wanted to remain calm for the 30 seconds she was on TV...
Thank god that we are able to home school and that my kids are MY responsibility only. I have never trusted my kids to anyone else except for my mother who is a wonderful grandma :).
Schools are so overcrowded, and run at times by people who really don't care what happens to your child. There are of course some very caring and responsible ppl who work at schools but no one can care for your child like you do.
