learning opportunities

Sunday I took the kids to PP for a b day party for one of J's friends. We had a great time and met a few new kids and they all played nicely together. They ran around, F met a 9 yo boy and they threw an air football around, dug in the dirt, and just tried their best to dig a hole to China lol. They also collected acorns and planted a few to see if a tree will grow at that spot. They also had a pinata and the kids had a good time whacking it. J gave it a good whack and got most of the things inside to fall out, she was so happy. They got tattoos, toys and some lollipops.
Before we got there on the walk from the bus stop to the party we collected leaves and talked about the forest and the various plants we saw. They love going there and we made plans to go again soon.
F has been doing a few hours of work each day, math pages, his Canada report, reading, using the comp to study more about volcanoes etc....
I read the Moose book to the kids this morning and the girls asked a ton of questions about the lives of moose and they loved the baby moose.
We also did numerous errands today and as usual I asked F while we were at the fruit/veggie stand how much is 2 lbs of potatoes if one lb is $0.70.... how much is 5 lbs? He answered them with no plm, he is getting much better at doing math in his head.
I always try and 'do' home schooling wherever we are because there are numerous opportunities for learning all day.
