Today

We read Around the world in 80 days, some more today, and discussed a little about Pioneers to the Oregon territory, did some math, long division for F and addition for J. The kids played for hours with their Legos building various things, and played a game of The ladybug game which uses number recognition and counting, mostly for A. The played together for about 30 minutes and had a good time just being together.
F also did various types of math using his Time for kids Almanac and literacy rates for various countries and population numbers and area by square mile for each country. He also looked up things on line about the history of Ireland and Italy and read the article online about Abraham Lincoln's document they found in Hawaii.
He watched about 30 minutes of a DVD we got from Netflix about the universe and what it's made of.

I need to just sit and put down on paper (or this blog) the kinds of things we do every day as far as 'schooling' goes.

We do cover a variety of topics every day but sometimes it looks like we do nothing at all until I sit and really think about the little things we did.

Yesterday for instance we went to the dentist and had a good checkup, all the kids are fine and don't need to be seen for another six months. So this counts as health class.
Also we have been using he book History of US as a group read aloud for US history and then discussion about what we read and Art. The girls draw what we ( me and F) read and talk at length about it. We also use the map on the wall to show where exactly the first people came to the New world about 30,000 years ago, as well as the measuring tape to show J who loves to see how long exactly were the Mammoth's tusks.... wow that's what 16 feet looks like?....
