Tennis, soccer and in between

Well the summer is off to a nice start as far as the kids are concerned... we have been going to tennis twice a week and made it to soccer again today. They have been playing with their friends at tennis, some home schooled some not, playing with friends at the home school soccer and just having a blast. F. learned to ride a bike today!! His friend I. took his bike to soccer and afterwards F decided he wanted to try and ride it and after a few tries, he rode it like he has been riding for ever. now this is the kid that hasn't ridden a bike in a looong time cuz he was a little nervous abt taking the training wheels off of his bike. So it has been about a year.... and today he got it within 5 minutes.... I was so proud. He was so proud and his friend was proud. :) i noticed smt about F today, once he sets his mind to doing something, it takes him almost no time to do it. It has to be when he feels he is ready, he knows himself well enough.. I know that comes from home schooling. :)

J. is also getting the hang of the bike and her scooter as well, she loves tennis, soccer and dance. The next thing she wants to do is take art classes....

We started reading Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde last week and F really seems to like it. J is reading better and is really interested in writing words. She uses Pbskids to draw stories and then write captions for them. She is sounding the words out and loves when she actually gets a word exactly right. I'm just happy that she is interested and basically gets the idea on how to do it. She is learning to recognize her numbers up to 1000, and once she understands why you need to know arithmetic she will be on a roll :).
