tennis

Took the kids to tennis today again, they are loving it... except for the heat... it seems to be at least 5 degrees hotter on the court than outside by the benches. They are making a lot of friends and I'm happy about that, neither of them are the shy type. I actually saw A talking to a girl abt her age too.. she only said one sentence to her but that's a big improvement :).

My neighbor also takes her 9 yo son there so the kids hang out while playing and then we all walk the 20 blocks home together. Today we all went to the library for RIF afterwards and borrowed a few DVDs.

We also finished the Around the World in 80 days book and I had F tell me what the whole book was about because he has some trouble at times expressing himself. He actually remembered parts of the book I had kind of forgotten. So I was happy. We also looked up on line some thing that his friend told him about the president before George Washington. Except the boy got it a little wrong, but never the less it was an interesting fact. There were 14 'presidents' before G.Washington if you count being president of Congress. We also found one man that was president of this U.S.A. for 1 day :), right after Polk and before Taylor. But he never took the oath of office so he was not officially the president and he slept thru the day because of fatigue from partying the night before Taylor actually took office. He found that to funny...

So you see home schooling never stops in this house, it's impossible to separate life from learning and the kids have too much curiosity.

That's not to say that traditionally schooled kids stop learning completely during the summer, there are a few that I know of that read and do work books and such.
