Well we decided to try Dr.Oz's green juice. It is super healthy and filled antioxidants, fiber and other things good for your body. I decided to cut the recipe in half in case we didn't like it too much. J wanted to help so I made it into a mini math lesson and asked her questions about halves. What is half of 2? half of 1? etc.. every thing you do counts :).
So it calls for cucumbers, parsley, spinach, apples, celery, lemon and lime juice and some ginger. Once I got my blender to actually blend :), we all took a spoon and tried it. Even A tried some, now she is my pickiest eater, so I wasn't surprised when she didn't like it at all... but J loved it, F liked it and I think I can do it a few times a month. Lol, not every day like Dr. Oz.. sorry.. I will reduce the amount of parsley and double on the apples next time. It tasted good, but just too much parsley for my taste buds. I figure that as long as my kids are open to trying new things that is all I ask. As is they fight over the last piece of fish and complain when I give one more broccoli then the other, so I am not worried :).
I have been making a wide variety of fruits and vegetables available and we have cut down radically on our intake of chicken. Now I serve it about 2 times a month, and the rest of the time it's either fish or just veggies. I can't tell you how much difference I have noticed in all of our health. We already don't eat any red meat or pork but just upping the intake of fish and even more veggies and fruits has made a difference.
I am amazed when I see how little some children know about food and more amazed when I see what some people actually consider as food.
