Plant Propagation

I took the kids to the city yesterday morning for a plant propagation class. Only J was signed up, the other 2 hung out. It was a long train ride now that we are near the local train, not the express. But it wasn't as bad as I though it would be. The class was at the Horticultural Society of NY and was for 90 minutes. The kids in the class learned about various plants, how to take care of them, what a root was and then planted 2 types of plants to take home. One was a spider plant that J named YO, and got a kick out of the Spanish name, Malo Madre (bad mother) because the main plant is in the soil and she pushes her babies out so they flow over. It is series of classes once a week for 4 weeks, and J was happy because a few girls that she has met before were also there. As well as some other kids she knew. After the class was over the girls got together and sat on the floor to trade Pokemon cards. This was J's first time so her friend S shared some of her cards with her and they had a nice time talking. I hung out and talked with a few of the moms while A drew pictures and looking at the flower book I bought for her for a dollar. F entertained himself, took some pics and looked at the plants and old books around the place.

We made plans to go to the park afterwards next week.
F has been good at doing his schooling this week with daily math and vocabulary, grammar work, we also continued our study of Puerto Rico. J has been reading anything she can find, including the Pokemon cards that DH found a few weeks ago, which are now coming in handy. She is also writing a lot of little notes and drawing a lot. I am going over some addition and subtraction with A as well as teaching her the letter sounds.

Once I get really organized we will have more sit down learning time for all 3 of them.
