I arranged for a tour of the Farmer's Market in the city yesterday, so we met up with about 10 other HS families and got a little more educated about our food. The kids learned about local food, and what is in season for the Spring, got to taste some produce, talk to a goat farmer and try some goat cheese. They walked around in groups and had a fun scavenger hunt. F's friend W and J's friend S were also there which worked out great.
After the tour all the kids went to the local playground and ran around for about 1 hour, DH got off work early so he took A to the playground while we were at the class, and then we met up for lunch. Once F's friend W and his family left F decided he wanted to go home too, so him, A and DH took the train home while i hung out with J and her friend S and her mom. J really enjoyed playing with her friend and kept saying to me on the way home how cute she is lol. B&N is across the street and made it impossible to pass w/o us going in :). Soooo, after abt 30 minutes of looking around I bought a few art books Van Gogh and Picasso, a drawing book, a really informative and cute kid's biology book that J can't put down now, and a few other books for $50 (love my educators discount).
All in all it was a great day. Except for my lack of a camera battery issues... so I didn't take any pics!!
Dance class is over for the next 3 weeks so we had an easy day today, we took a walk to the community garden where we now do our composting, it's great to be able to go and have a place where we can compost all out fruit and veggie scraps and greatly reduce our garbage. It's such a beautiful place, one of the ladies who has a plot there gave us some mustard greens which I will saute with collard greens and kale tomorrow for dinner.. yummy!
J has been reading the biology book I bought yesterday all day, she even took it to the garden and outside in the back yard once we got home and sat on the floor looking at the pics and reading some of the words.
