friends

I want to thank my friend A. who awarded me a beautiful blogger's award :). I miss you and am so grateful we found you and your family and made friends that first week in LI :).

Friends are so important, or I should say good friends.. I have a few people that I used to consider friends because I never really understood what it means. I was used to constantly giving and not getting very much in return, and it's funny how it took home schooling my kids for me to find real friends. People who are interested in what my family is doing on any given day, who are there when I needed someone to take F to a class because J was sick. People who want to hang out and don't think twice about coming to a b-day party for my kids.. not 'oh let me see what we are doing that day' No, their response is yes we'll be there and then they go home and put that on their calendar and that IS what they are doing that day. People who will drive 2 hours thru horrible traffic to get to my apt.,people who understand me and my choices in life and are supportive.
Maybe it's because it took me a while to be real comfortable with who I am and am now seeking out a better class of people to be friends with, moms who really care about their kids, and want to be with them. Moms who I can talk to for hours and not feel like we only talked about them and their problems. I have to say that I have a really nice group of friends who I have come to see are more special than I ever realized. I know that some of you read my blog and some don't but I felt the need to say thank you for being my friend and for being there.

I wish for my kids to have friends like I have, and it looks as if the moms who I am friends with also have great kids who my kids are friends with, so there is hope :).

I still keep those 'friends' from before who are now really more acquaintances, just to kind of remind me what a real friends looks like.
