Snow days

Well the snow that I've been waiting for is here....
The kids all went outside the first day and played for abt 20 minutes....until we all got too cold... J and A made snow angels( I took pics)and we all threw snow balls(sort of) at each other. They had a great time. F has been doing a lot of math and reading, we read a really good book the other day called Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold, an African-American artist/writer. We are going to the library tom, for a Chinese New Year activity, and while there I will look for more books by African-American authors. For Valentine's Day the kids all made a Valentine for their daddy. They all glued red construction paper hearts to a card and 'wrote' little notes to him. F was the only one who wrote anything legible lol, J is learning how to spell her name, so she wrote the 2 letters that she knows.
The map we bought for F has really helped him understand all the different countries better, we read about Africanized bees and he was able to see exactly the path they migrated trough. It helps for him to see what he is learning, I think he processes it better.
Today I went to the dentist(not fun) but soo necessary and we discussed good dental hygiene. (Use every day life as a simple lesson plan) Then we bought an electric pencil sharpener..so necessary after I got a big blister from sharpening all of our pencils 2 days ago.
We have a lot of activities planned for the next few months, I actually planned one of them :) at the end of March. We will be going to the NY Transit Museum for a workshop and tour. So far there are 15 kids attending and 7 parents. It should be great. Every Friday is basically booked for us until June :)
I love it!
