Chinese New year

It is the year of the pig. F and I went to the library on Saturday for a Chinese New Year activity. They had little play called the Monkey King Opera. It was interesting, and I was proud of F because he decided that he wanted to participate. He was one of the angels in the play, he got to dress up in costume and along with 3 other children did a little rehearsal and then did a little skit. I took pics with my cell phone because I forgot my camera.. I was so mad. We got to learn a little more about Chinese culture and we borrowed some more books on Chinese New Year.
F has been interested in the different flags of the world, so we have been doing reading comprehensions, coloring and learning about a few different countries for the past few days. He especially likes Australia, so today he did some math word problems involving it. We got a lot of our info from Enchanted Learning. It's great.
He also listened (on the computer) to an interview done by children in Iowa of a zoologist, which is one of the possible careers he is thinking about. :) I can't wait 'till it's warm enough to go to the zoos again.
We also reached our reading goal for the month of February yesterday. We are doing really well this quarter, it should be easy to do my 2Nd quarterly in March.
J and A are also learning a lot this past few days...J learned how to write all the letters in her name (not in order yet though) and A learned some more of her colors and the month of her b day. They are so cute :)
Finally the weather is nice enough for us to go to the library tom. and Friday is our Alley Pond get together which should be fun, we get to see some friends which we haven't seen in quite a while.
I also finished booking the NY transit trip for the end of March. So far we have 18 kids and 8 parents attending. Yay!
