Brooklyn

We went to a Brooklyn home schoolers get together yesterday at Prospect Park. We took the bus and it was so easy... it took about 20 minutes, the bus stop is right outside my door. It stopped right outside the entrance to the park as well so it was great. We met a few other home schoolers, and F made a great new friend. They got introduced and then played together non stop for 3 hours..... they made forts from trees, played with a bow and arrow that the kid brought and 'hunted' and did all sorts of things that little boys do when left to their imaginations. The girls played as well and made some friends of their own. I joined the Brooklyn homeschoolers association that one of the moms set up. Finally there will be something in Brooklyn :)
After the park we went to the Audubon center for some Eggs crafts and some more play time indoors. The kids loved dressing up as different things, J was a bat lol, F played on the computers with the older boys and had a great time.

On Easter my mom came over and my husband made our traditional Easter lunch/dinner, Vienda with sauteed bacalao and vegetable. The kids painted Easter Eggs and decorated it. I read a few pages about Easter in other countries to F and then he wanted to look up Bilbies (a marsupial from Australia) so we looked it up on line.
On Monday it was math day, F decided that he wanted to do only math, so I copied a lot of work pages from my web sites and he did about 5 of them through out the day. We also started reading about Ancient Egypt again.
Today we focused more on handwriting and long 'O' vowels as well as antonyms. He is watching a DVD about natural predators The Lions. He loves to watch that stuff, he loves animals, insects, arachnids, etc. i had him write a thank you email to his family members for his b day presents, he is learning more about how to use the computer, I showed him spell check, and he is doing a little better on the keyboard. He will be getting more of a computer education as he gets older.
