Art Class

My dh drove F to Long Island this morning for the art class given by one of the home school moms, she is a real artist so it's great that my son gets to learn from her.
Me and the girls didn't go because they are sick... so I took them to the Dr and then went for a quick trip to the library next door. We got some free books and some free educational video tapes.
F did a great job painting a landscape using acrylics in Van Gogh style. She discussed the artist a little and showed some of his art works for reference. This went really great with our venture to the Met a few weeks ago to see Van Gogh.
He really enjoyed himself...they had a short play time in between the painting drying and he got to see his best home school friend W. I wish I could have been there, I hate missing out on the fun :)

We have been doing a lot of math again and are continuing to read about ancient Rome, F watched a 1 hour show on some of early Rome's emperors. A lot of them did not last very long....some only a few weeks....it was interesting.
We are trying out a decomposing time line experiment. We put a banana peel into a soda bottle, added soil and water and are waiting to see how long it will take for it to decompose. A earth book that we were reading a while ago said 2 to 5 weeks. F made a notation in his projects book about it, and we are waiting.....if you try something like this I advise you not to smell your project..it's really bad (I covered it with plastic wrap with a few holes poked into it) so it's not smelling up the house at all. Just thought I'd post a warning LoL.
His spelling is getting better every week, he is really getting the hang of sounding out the words.
J is getting very excited to be home schooled starting the fall....I am not going to have a routine for her but we will have a lot of fun and my plan is to teach her all of her letters and her numbers, and anything else that come along will be great. She is very into Yaks right now, she wants to know all about them. So we have been spending a lot of time on the computer looking at pictures of Yaks, talking about what they eat, etc. etc. I like that she is so much more into learning about new things than she was even 6 mos ago.
She is growing up :(
It's almost her 4th B day....
