J had her first dance class today at the new dance school we've enrolled her in. She had 30 minutes of tap and 30 minutes of ballet, it went really well. Both of her teachers loved her, they said she was really friendly and listened well :)
It rained this morning so we decided to just go to the library afterwards and get some books on Peru and on Roberto Clemente (F decided he wanted to know more abt him for Hispanic heritage month).
J and A played on the computer there and F spent some time reading some books.
When we got home we cleaned up the kids' room, my husb. fixed the leaking sink, me and F watched the Civil War DVD while J played her games on the computer. We saw the battle of Shiloh in Tennessee and part of the battle of Antietam. I then looked up the battles on line and printed a map of the states where they took place.
I read American tall tales to F, he likes Johnny Appleseed, and we looked up the states that he spread his apple seeds through. F loves maps and needs to see the places that we read about.
F started reading about Peruvian food and he will start writing his report tomorrow for the class on Friday.
He went to his first song writing class on Tuesday, he met a new friend who is his age and lives in Bklyn. me and his mom got along well too. He liked the class but is a little reserved about trying to make up his own songs...he said he wants to feel out the class next Tuesday and then think about what he has to do as far as writing his own stuff. After the class we stayed and hung out for a newsletter club one of the moms is trying to start up, then F played in her garage. She has it set up with a kiddie pool table, table tennis table and a place to just hang with a couch. She has 4 boys and F had a great time playing pool with them. He is actually really good at pool, which kinda surprised me.....
We went to Pa for 2 days on Wednesday, just for a little vacation in Lancaster. The kids had a great time swimming in the pool, playing in the game room (F played pool with his dad and won both times) playing on the playground on the hotel property. We also went to a small farm and fed some goats, and played on a jungle gym and inside a small house built for kids. We played golf, saw the Amish people till their fields with horses, and saw a one room school house. The last day we were there we went to a pumpkin patch on an Amish homestead and got a few small pumpkins and fed some chickens.
It was so nice to be in the country, fresh air, small town, people who wave back when you wave at them :)
