It's too cold to be doing much outside.... :( I'm waiting for Spring....
The kids have been playing a lot, playing V smile, Webkinz, other educational comp. games, puzzles, etc.....
Last night we all snuggled in my bed and the girls bought me a few books to read, which is usual, F usually sits there and listens to me read their books. Last night he bought me a chapter book to read to him! Journey to the center of the earth by Jules Verne. I was so happy that he is finally into reading more of the big kid books, we read 1 chapter (abt 10 pages) he read a little as well and he is improving, I'd say he reads above his 2ND grade level. He can pronounce a lot of the big words, and he seems to have a much better understanding of what he is reading/ what is being read to him. He really liked the book and wants to read a chapter a night until it's finished.
I am so glad..... I was getting a little worried about his lack of interest in the big books (chapter books) that we have here, he has no problem reading his Time for kids almanac or his Presidents of the US books, but I wanted him to read more of the fiction, story type ones.....
We also did some spelling today, as well as timed math, which he likes to do. He did 64 subtraction cards in 5 minutes.
The day before he did 3 multiplication work pages in him math book, I let him work until he didn't want to anymore and he did 3.....cool with me...... he basically got all of them correct, he only had to look up 3 problems for the answers.
We spent the weekend (after J's dance class) at my mother's house, saw my brother (whom we haven't seen since last June) and just basically hung out..... F spent most of his time reading and studying the US presidents and their facts place mat she has :) he wrote down which Pres. was 1st, 2ND etc... and their ages at death (math) he really loves that stuff..... playing with Lego's, they got to play outside for a little bit on Monday when the weather got to be around 60 degrees....then it got too windy so they came inside but at least they got some outdoor play time....
