Spring

Well it is spring and we are hoping the weather will start feeling like spring sooner than later....
We went to the geography club today, the topic was Brazil. F did his report on the typical foods of Brazil. He is doing very well at his reports, we are working more on having him write them more in his own words. His spelling is improving little by little. One of the presenters did a Brazil facts Jeopardy game, she had them in 2 groups answering various questions...what is the capital etc... and F knew a lot of the answers, even the ones she asked the opposing team. I was very proud, he retains a lot of things when it comes to learning about countries. Afterwards we ate a lot of good food, shrimp was F's favorite :), and played outside for about 30 minutes, the kids ran around playing tag, then we took the bus home and after a little rest he did a page on double digit subtraction. We started working on word plms this week for the math portion of the curriculum. He also did more on his volcanoes site and he is now understanding a lot more of what he is learning about them. He also did some work on planets and some interesting facts about each of them, he likes to follow me around with his Time for kids Almanac and either tell me a zillion interesting facts or ask me a lot of questions......he really enjoys learning new things.

We are reading the Magic Tree house series now, we started with Twister on Tuesday, I bought a few more books for him on line so he has a nice collection of the tree house ones.

J is really interested in learning how to read so we are working on 2 letter words that she can memorize and then start to sound out once she knows the sounds of each letter. I read 3 stories to the girls tonight and she is really into it. The TV has been going off by 9 pm every night and they are actually going to bed much earlier than they used to. They also wake up around 8:45,9 am...so they get their 9 to 10 hours every night even if they got to bed at 11 pm.... but it is better for them to get even more if they can.... J likes her big Kindergarten work book so we use it more frequently now, she feels like a big girl when she uses it, just like her big brother! The girls want to do a lot of things just like F....so cute :)

A has written her name a few more times since she learned last week. She is drawing better and more recognizable figures. Her whale actually looks like a whale now...I was a little worried ( I know I'm silly she's only 3) J's pictures have looked like what they were since she was 2.
