We did, as many cities did world wide last night, and turned off all our lights, TVs, and computers for 1 hour to help in the conservation of energy. We actually turned everything off at 7:40 pm, and sat on blankets in the kid's room and told stories in the candlelight. The kids loved it! A sat in her green chair and told us a story about a princes and a wolf, J told a story about a princess and a dragon...umm I see a theme here, lol.
F does not like to tell stories so he just listened....I told a ghost story and then we all went in my bed and I read some more of the Twister on Tuesday magic tree house story.
The kids would like to do this at least once a week, so it might catch on here... we need more candles :)
We went to J's dance class yesterday, then food shopping, my DH finally decided that he'd like to try a Veggie burger, so we bought 4 patties and came home for lunch of veggies burgers, onions, lettuce, pickles, cheese etc... the kids absolutely loved their 'burgers'! My husband and I included! I am so glad to have the family I do, I don't worry so much about how the kids eat because they want to eat healthy and pay attention to the labels on their foods. It is so much easier to teach a child how to eat healthy and the benefits of exercise than to have them try and change an unhealthy life style once they are adults. I stress that it is ok to eat cake and cookies once in a while as well.
Hopefully this will stick with them as they grow.....
