It was F's b day on Tuesday, so of course he had the whole day to do as he pleased....he played video games and with his sisters all day :)
Then my mom came over and helped me cook one of his favorite meals, a Hungarian dish with potatoes and sour cream, eggs etc.... when his father came home from work the girls helped him decorate F's cake, they loved that :) they got to put the fruit and the cream on it. We had a really nice time, took lots of pictures of course.
Wednesday we did errands we went to the farm stand and F worked on his math there, if 1 lb is $.59 how much is 2 lbs? Things like that, one lady came up to me outside and complimented his math skills... I said thanks, we work on it every day... That was nice, I also know that when we go out and talk about our weather, practice math etc.. ppl do pay attention. I have seen people looking at us as we go about our business in the middle of the day, I wonder what they are thinking?
We also cleaned and did some more home schooling, math and reading mostly, with some computer usage....
Thursday we went to Prospect Park for a home school get together, the kids had a blast playing soccer, running around, being adventurous with a man made waterfall. J is very daring and got up close to it, jumped on the rocks, and had a great time. it was a little too cold for us to stay very long so after an hour and a half we started for home. It was nice to finally get out and do something fun! Now that the weather is getting so much nicer we will be doing so much more with the group.
Friday I did laundry and the kids hung out at home playing, F did a few pages in his work book. He tried his hand at 2 digit multiplication and did a very god job. He then did some phonics work pages.
Saturday was the day! We met my friend and her family for a day at the zoo. Picked up my mom and got there around noon, we stayed for about 4 hours! The kids love the zoo and had a great time looking at all the animals, seeing the sea lions being fed, playing in the discovery center. J asked so many questions of the volunteer I was so proud :), I noticed that she knows a lot for a 4 yo! She loved it! F loved the various real bird eggs they had on display. All sorts of eggs, an Ostrich egg, the now extinct elephant bird egg (which was fake), a jay bird egg etc.... he was fascinated because they were real eggs and they looked so different than the ones we eat :)
We took a lot of pictures, it was such a beautiful day! The kids fed some animals as well and then we sat down and just relaxed for the last 20 minutes as the kids drew in the gravel.
Got home and crashed lol!
This has been a good week.....
