Park days

Well I am feeling better so we are doing much more outside...
Saturday was dance class, Monday we did some errands, on Tuesday we went to the Audubon center at prospect park, met another mom with her 4yo dd there. It was nice to be out in the sunshine, the kids played at the center with the toys there, made 'I love Earth' buttons for Earth day and played in the grass outside. J and her friend S had a nice time playing together, rolling on the grass, playing Simon says etc.... they got to see a few geese flying and then landing on the water outside the center as well. This was a big hit as we have never seen the birds landing, always just swimming in the pond. My DH picked us up and then we went home to a Bean burrito dinner, F had the idea to add carrots to the dish, we use Organic black bean spread, lettuce, onions, cheese, sour cream and now carrots, all wrapped up in a whole wheat wrap...it's soo good :) the kids love it! Then for Earth day we decided to turn off all the lights, TV and computer for a little while. We read some stories by candle light then relaxed. It was a good feeling. The kids all went to bed by 10 pm and I actually had some time alone.
Wednesday we did laundry always fun for the kids...more errands....

F did his book report on the Magic tree house book we finished last week and some math pages. His spelling is improving, he also spent time watching some educational TV, and playing with his Lincoln log cabin wooden toys that he bought with his own money a few days ago. He is good at saving his money for the things that he'd like to have. He got a Lego airplane with an airport for his b day from my brother which he finished building the very next day after it arrived :) he loves to build I noticed. He is pretty good at it, his father helped him with the airplane (it's big) but then he did the airport with 4 different parts by himself. He is good at reading the instructions and putting the pieces together, I'm proud of him. I think there's worse things for him to be than like my brother the builder :)

We also started reading another magic tree house book, about the revolutionary war, did some various math plms., he does math every day which seems to be the only routine that I've set that is sticking.
He is also showing more interest in the North American birds guide book we have here and we saw some robins and some other birds at the park. They are learning to identify various birds that we come across on an almost daily basis on our walks.

Today was Park day for the HS group and we took the bus and then walked quite a ways inside prospect park, but had a great time. We stayed there playing and talking to friends for 3 hours. the kids had a blast running around, making up games, throwing water balloons at each other and at trees. J had her friends F and S there and she made some new friends, A stood by my side for most of the time except when she played with J for a few minutes..she's still my baby....F had his friend D there and he made some new friends as well. This is something that we will most likely do every week now that it's warm enough.
