Well my husband had the week off his week and we totally took advantage of it :).
We started with cleaning and organizing the house, bought a few shelves and went to work getting the house to look more like the way I'd like it to look.
We also went to the Brooklyn children's museum, where the kids had a blast exploring the 'city'. Playing with the toys, looking at the giant boa constrictor snake, 'making pizza', building with the blocks, designing their own house, etc.
Friday we decided to go to the Queens zoo, it was so cold, abt 37 but we still had a good time. For the first time since we have been going there (over 2 yrs) the Canadian Lynx was awake and walking around, guess it needed it to be really cold for it to wake up from it's seemingly endless sleep. We also saw the Pudu which is the world's smallest deer and is J's new favorite animal, sea lions being fed, and other animals that seemed to be loving the cold weather.
Today was dance class again, we passed the time waiting for the class to be over by quizzing each other. F really knows a lot about the US presidents, and about countries. Then Trader Joe's for food shopping, then home to ride bikes. It was J's first time riding a big kid bike, with training wheels. She was so good, she got on the bike and started pedaling, first with her father holding her a little on her back, then a few minutes later by herself with him walking besides her. They went around the block and she was just loving it. I give her a few more weeks of riding before she's going to ask for the wheels to come off so she can really fly. She is so brave :). A rode J's old 3 wheeler and had a good time riding up and down the block. F decided he wanted to stay upstairs and have some quiet time by himself.
J is reading better, and is very excited about it. F did the 4Th grade test I printed form the BOE web site and got a 54 out of 58. He was upset that he didn't get it all right, my little perfectionist. I was explaining to him that he is supposed to be in the 3rd grade if you go by his age and he was taking the 4Th grade test which he found easy at times. This is a good thing!
