Zoo class

My friend took F to his Zoo class for me on Monday, J was not feeling well on Sunday and she was still not feeling great on Monday so i didn't want to take her out. I was soooo grateful for her help.. it meant so much that she took him along with her 8 yo son who is also F's friend. He was glad to see him and he had a good time at the 1 hr class, he came home and told me that he got to touch a blue tongued skink, see a turtle skull, learned about Polar bears, the way animals adapt to their environment, cold blooded vs warm blooded animals among other things. It was nice and we get to do it next Monday too for the next few weeks.

F turned 9 yesterday... my boy.... my mom came over and we had a really nice day, he got Legos and books, we gave him his razor scooter 2 weeks ago. He spent the day eating cake and playing with his Legos. He also really likes the Atlas of the World book my mom got him, it has detailed maps of a lot of countries along with a lot of information about them. He spent some time yesterday looking at the population, land mass...etc of various countries.

The kids had their own math lesson on Tuesday, F wrote problems on the chalk board and had the girls answer him. A did some Math pages in her book and F helped her with it by asking her "what is 2 plus 2?" What is 4 plus 2?
He likes showing her how to do things and they don't think it's a learning thing when it's him doing it. Lol...
J is using starfall.com to read stories and is getting better at sounding things out..

I had a talk with my mom yesterday and she commented about how much better it is to home school them, because here they get to do things at their pace and follow what interests them there is no pressure to be like all the other kids in the classroom who all have to learn the same things whether they want to or not. :) I liked that, it is so true.
