Thursday the kids got to play a little with my brother who is in NY from Florida. they love him, he's like a big kid. F did a lot of math and some reading, then we went to the library for chess. J played on the computer and we read a lot of books again. (The usual)
We have had a great weekend.
Yesterday we went to get all of the kids' pictures taken at JC Penney, the came out so good, I was tempted to order a lot. I got one of each kid as well as a few of all 3 of them.
Afterwards we went to sell some of our used stuff, got our toll and the some basically paid for. Then off to the beach in Prince's Bay. The kids played in the playground and then went for a walk on the sand, we all put our feet in the water. J made a sand castle and F dug a huge hole. the park/beach has areas for birds to nest (man made) and F learned a little about Purple Marins and what they need for their habitat. Needless to say we had a great time.
Then we went to see my niece and her new baby...got rid of some more (almost all) of the used baby clothes. We arrived home in the late afternoon, tired and hungry.
Today we met friends and their kids at the central park zoo, we had such a good time. The kids all love the zoo, we saw the usual animals, J and A loved the penguins. We saw a short play that the zoo keepers put on with stuffed animals. J yelled the loudest :)when they said yell.
They got to see all kinds of animals in the petting zoo, got balloon things(not animals) and got to play with friends. J is having a very nice b day, lol.
She even got flower shaped chocolate lollipops from my friend(her God mother)
When we were at the beach I kept thinking how wonderful it is to home school, if F was in school we would not be able to do a lot of the stuff that we have been doing. We would not be at the beach at 1 pm.... there wouldn't be time....
and he still gets to learn every thing that traditional schooled kids get to learn.
I was reading the posts on the home school site and the group has so many fun and interesting (very educational) things planned for this coming year. I can't wait.
Usually I have been looking forward to summer starting in April (when F was in school) and this year I am really looking forward to September coming....
