Yoga

Sunday I took the kids for a yoga music video shoot, all 3 got to do some yoga moves and dance to Bari Koral's music and be in a video. It was so cool, J was so into it as well as A. F was a little reluctant but he did it anyway. They had lights, cameras etc...We will get the tape in about 2 months.

Monday was tennis, and we have tentatively started our home schooling up again. Me and F are reading the Odyssey again, we have finished book 3 and started book 4. His comprehension is getting better because we now go over each chapter that we read. He has also been doing more math pages and doing his U. S. states questions in his notebook. This involves reading. writing and research. Tuesday I took the kids to the Native American museum in downtown NYC, we saw a show where the kids got to do a traditional Dagoo tribe dance, and listen to songs. Then we looked at some interesting exhibits, the kids were fascinated, especially A who loved to look at all the different clothes, toys and things that were used by Native American children.

Afterwards we walked to the church a few blocks away where Alexander Hamilton's grave is so F could look around again, he loves this stuff.... ate lunch, walked back to the park and the kids played in the water fountains, the playground and just hung out enjoying the day.

I finished F's IHIP, and will mail it out today... a full 2 weeks before it's due date.
J is learning the sounds that letters make and is slowly learning to put some of them together to make words.. she is really interested in learning how to read, and we went to the library Wednesday while doing errands and read about 8 books :).

Last night I got the Story of the World history book that we will be using this year as our history curriculum and read the 1st chapter about Nomads. A was really interested and asked a whole bunch of questions. Then we went over it and asked her some questions which she answered all correctly... I love it! I love that she is 3 1/2 and will learn all these things because she is exposed and encouraged, so what that she isn't supposed to know about Nomads and Native Americans at this age.. she would never learn this stuff in a traditional pre-school... J as well is interested in Native Americans, all types of animals, writing her own way, she loves to draw and is able to pursue that as much as she wants. DH got a big black board from work and they have a blast drawing on it with chalk.

Today is August 1st and the beginning of our official HS'ing year!
Should be great with the new changes I've made to the curriculum and the way we will be doing things.
