F has been playing with all of his B day presents, he really likes the Monster's Inc. software game we got him. It's fun and educational.... he has been reading his Pirates Book he got from his grandma.
He has also been using his Reader Rabbit software, he is getting much better at adding money. We have also been reviewing his phonics skills, I noticed he still needs help with his vowels. He knows all of his long vowels but still gets a little confused with his short ones when he has to use them in a word. So we have been reading more and he has been reading poetry, which he seems to like. So I had him copy one of his favorites into his notebook. There is a Poetry in the park get together with the home school group that we are going to try and make so he can recite his poem to his friends.
I have been trying to expose him to classical music, I'm starting with Mozart which I really like. We did some research on Van Gogh and his paintings, F loves to look at all the beautiful paintings done by him. He was very fascinated to find out that he died at the age of 37, "Why did he die? Was he sick? What happened to him?"
We saw it on line and we will be taking a trip to MOMA this Spring to really get the full experience. He is really interested in Art. He is upset that we have to miss the art class in April with the home school group because he will be away with his Grandmother. But he is excited to be going away on his own as well, so we will definitely make the next art class.
He is still wanting to read about the New York Subways, as well as The Inca Ice Maiden. I think we will be studying Peru after this :) it's his choice, I will suggest it to him and see where it lead us. There are so many possibilities in what we can study and learn more about. My goal is to expose him to a variety of things and let him decide what he wants to do/be.
